Exempt From Public Accountability

The LGA (Local Government Association) is a very powerful local government organisation almost entirely funded by public money.

The LGA severely restricts public access to its activities and publications, and is exempt from statutory powers designed to ensure public accountability,ie. it is exempt from the same rules that apply to central government and most other public bodies.

What reason have our Councils to be so secretive about their workings ?
